Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging at Bell
Yvonne's Story
Having been at Bell for over 20 years, I value Bell’s diverse and inclusive environment the most. This environment has allowed me to do what I love and enjoy.
As a visible minority female in a traditionally male dominant profession, Bell has a strong support system which has helped me thrive in its unique environment. It is in this environment that has allowed working in and exploring various business units such as BBM, Networks, Bell TV, and now NTS. I treasure the safe and inclusive environment that has allowed me to make an impact and valuably contribute to the individual teams that I have been part of, in addition to contributing to the Bell organization as a whole.
Recognizing how important it is, as a Senior Manager, to ensure that other employees also feel included in the conversation, I actively participate in DEIB activities. Currently, I work with a very passionate group of colleagues in creating a Pan-Asian ERG to provide a safe space for the Pan Asian community to connect and raise awareness about diversity and inclusion. Most importantly, the goal of this group is to empower Pan-Asian colleagues to achieve their full potential at Bell.
Bell’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment has motivated me to extend my mentoring and coaching work and be active in the wider community as well. I volunteer at the mentoring events at McMaster University. I am also an on-site Engineer for an outreach program organized by the Engineers of Tomorrow for participating junior schools in Ontario. Both volunteer opportunities share a similar mission in raising awareness about the engineering profession and have our future engineers understand the power of engineering and the impact they can make in their career and making the world a better place for everyone.
I feel so lucky to have given the resources and support to grow my career and myself personally during my days at Bell, a company where true belonging lies.
