Summary

BNN Bloomberg is looking for a business journalist/TV producer to join Canada’s only business news channel. The successful candidate will play an integral leadership role in collaboratively setting the daily business and finance news agenda, producing daily live programs and multi-platform content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help set daily news agenda by monitoring news wires, breaking news press releases, CTV News content and Bloomberg partner content
  • Produce and help write daily business content and lead a team of chase producers and anchors
  • Produce breaking news and live-event coverage for a sophisticated audience who knows and understands topics such as finance, business, markets and investment
  • Vet/edit scripts and digital stories
  • Help maintain editorial calendar
  • Proactively share content with the broader CTV News team on daily and weekly content
  • Mentor/train staff on business journalism best practices
  • Lead Senior News Team on special projects

Critical Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of business, finance and economics
  • 5+ years of business journalism experience
  • Comfortable working in a high-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • A self-starter who is eager to contribute content on multiple platforms
  • A team player who gives and receives feedback well
  • A journalist who is committed to the highest industry and ethical standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience producing live news from both an editorial and production perspective
  • Experience building line-ups, and working in a live control room
  • Proven recent experience in supervisory news roles
  • A journalism and/or business degree will be considered an asset
  • Experience with Bloomberg Terminal
