Kateryna's Story

Recent Bell hire Kateryna Kolaieva is a software developer from Odessa, Ukraine. After working in the telecommunications industry for the past 4 years, she moved to Toronto and found a role at Bell.

“In March 2022, my former company temporarily relocated me and some of my colleagues from Ukraine to Bulgaria, where we could continue to work remotely,” says Kateryna. “After some time, it started to become clear that it wouldn’t be safe enough to return into my hometown in the near future. That got me thinking about a new permanent home.”

At that point, Kateryna made the life-changing decision to come to Canada and in November, she landed at Pearson Airport in Toronto.

“After my first trip to Canada in 2010, I was very impressed by the unique beauty of the country, the innovations and the lifestyle. Therefore, I started wanting to come back here one day. That travel experience encouraged me to learn English and grow my career in mathematics and computer science.”

Kateryna quickly landed a role as a software developer on Bell’s Network and Technology services (NTS) team, thanks to the recruitment efforts of Paul Inzani, Senior Manager, Network Technology. In her current role, Kateryna will be developing software to automate the commissioning of our network and accelerate the delivery of our business services. She is excited to continue the next chapter of her life in Canada and further develop her career in software engineering and telecommunications.
